Lease-friendly Yes Yes Yes โ€” no building works

The distinction that matters most: screens and panels reduce noise, pods block it. If someone needs to take a confidential HR call or sit through back-to-back video meetings, no screen will fix that โ€” they need an enclosure. If the complaint is general open-plan hum and people being distracted by movement, screens do the job at a fraction of the cost.

Free standing acoustic screens

Our Rapidline free standing acoustic screens are 50mm thick with stabilising feet, so they stand alone without brackets or fixing into anything. That matters in a leased tenancy โ€” nothing is attached to the building, and the screens move when your layout changes.

They are the standard answer for dividing an open floor into zones, separating a noisy sales pod from a quiet finance corner, or putting a visual break behind a row of desks. Sizes run from 1500mm ร— 1500mm at $336.60 up to 1800mm ร— 1800mm at $408.00, in blue or grey upholstery at the same price. Custom upholstery is available at additional cost if the screens need to match a brand palette โ€” note that custom pushes the lead time out to 8โ€“10 weeks, where stocked blue and grey are typically 1โ€“2 weeks. Backed by a 5 year warranty.

Acoustic pods and telephone booths

An acoustic pod is a self-contained enclosed room that sits on your floor. No walls, no permits, no make-good obligation at end of lease. It needs a power point and enough ceiling height, and that is essentially it.

We supply two ranges. B-Quiet pods cover single-person working pods through to meeting pods, with custom colour options. The Hush Chatterbox telephone booth is the single-occupant option for call privacy at $7,225, and the Chatterbox X meeting pod handles small group meetings at $14,450.

Standard-finish pods are typically 1โ€“2 weeks if in stock. Custom colours run 8โ€“10 weeks โ€” worth knowing early, because pods are usually specified late in a project when there is no 10 weeks left to give.

What we usually find when we walk an office

Most offices that ask us for acoustic screens don’t have a screening problem. They have a layout problem.

The common pattern is a sales or support team seated next to a team that needs to concentrate, with nothing between them and a hard ceiling above. Adding screens helps, but adding screens to a room with a hard plasterboard ceiling and polished concrete floor helps a lot less than people expect, because the sound is going up and over. If your office has hard surfaces on every plane, screens alone are a partial fix and we will say so.

The second pattern is the meeting-room shortage disguised as a noise complaint. If people are taking calls at their desks because every meeting room is booked, screens won’t change anything โ€” one telephone booth will. It’s a larger up-front spend that solves the actual problem, and it usually frees a meeting room at the same time.

And to be straight about it: if you’re mid-renovation or planning a move within twelve months, don’t buy pods yet. Hire them or wait.

Hire instead of buy

Acoustic partitions and pods are available through office furniture hire, including office partition hire and acoustic pod hire in Melbourne. This is the right call for events, project teams, short leases, or trialling whether a pod actually gets used before committing $7,000+ to one.

Melbourne and Geelong delivery

The Agile Office is based in Grovedale and delivers acoustic screens and pods across Melbourne and Geelong. Stocked items are typically 1โ€“2 weeks; custom colours and upholstery run 8โ€“10 weeks. Delivery and installation are quoted separately from the product price.

Screens arrive ready to stand. Pods are delivered and positioned on site โ€” access matters more than you’d think, so we check lift dimensions and door widths before quoting a pod, not after.

Acoustic work is frequently part of a wider project. If you are reconfiguring rather than just adding screens, see hybrid office reconfiguration or a full office fitout.

Frequently asked questions

Do acoustic screens actually reduce office noise?

Yes, but they reduce rather than block. A 50mm free standing acoustic screen absorbs sound and interrupts the direct path between people, which noticeably lowers distraction in open plan. It will not make a conversation private. For genuine privacy you need an enclosed acoustic pod or booth.

What is the difference between an acoustic screen and an acoustic pod?

A screen is an open panel that reduces noise and blocks line of sight, priced from $336.60 to $408.00 depending on size. A pod is a fully enclosed self-contained room that blocks sound, at $7,225 for a telephone booth or $14,450 for a meeting pod. Screens suit general open-plan noise; pods suit confidential calls and focused work.

How much does an acoustic pod cost in Melbourne?

A single-occupant Hush Chatterbox telephone booth is $7,225 and the Chatterbox X multi-person meeting pod is $14,450. Custom colours cost extra. Delivery and installation are quoted separately based on site access. Call 03 9088 8040 for a firm quote.

How much do free standing acoustic screens cost?

Rapidline free standing acoustic screens range from $336.60 for a 1500mm ร— 1500mm screen to $408.00 for 1800mm ร— 1800mm. Blue and grey upholstery are the same price. Custom upholstery is available at additional cost.

What is the lead time on acoustic screens and pods?

Stocked screens and standard-finish pods are typically 1โ€“2 weeks. Custom colours or custom upholstery run 8โ€“10 weeks. If your project has a fixed move-in date, specify acoustic items early โ€” custom finishes are the most common cause of a pod arriving after everyone has moved in.

Is delivery and installation included in the price?

No. Delivery and installation are quoted separately from the product price. Screens arrive ready to stand with no installation required. Pods are delivered and positioned on site, and The Agile Office checks lift dimensions and door widths before quoting.

Do acoustic pods require building approval or fixing to the building?

No. Acoustic pods are free standing and require no building works, so there is no make-good obligation at the end of a lease. They need a power point and adequate ceiling height. This is the main reason tenants choose pods over building a room.

Can free standing acoustic screens be moved after installation?

Yes. Free standing screens sit on stabilising feet and are not fixed to the floor, ceiling or desks, so they can be repositioned whenever your layout changes.

Can acoustic screens and pods be hired instead of purchased?

Yes. The Agile Office hires office partitions and acoustic pods across Melbourne and Geelong on short and long term. Hire suits events, project teams and short leases, and is a low-risk way to test whether a pod gets used before buying one.

Are custom colours and upholstery available?

Yes. Free standing acoustic screens are available with custom upholstery at additional cost, and B-Quiet pods are offered in custom colour options.

Not sure which one you need?

Tell us what the actual complaint is โ€” people can’t concentrate, or people can’t take calls privately โ€” and The Agile Office will recommend the cheapest option that solves it. Sometimes that’s four screens. Sometimes it’s one booth.
